having now looked at my badges, I suspect yours and Dave's well polished example are not right. Deejayuu's shown with collars is a good one!

My reasons for doubt are the poor finish around the horn, the detail to the tail end of the strap, the uniform and round ended slider but most of all the shape of the crown. On all genuine KC examples, which I have seen, the crown is narrower at the base. It may just be a case of differing manufacturers however I would say you still need to keep an eye out for a genuine example!

Some of my badges shown below for reference. The KC GM ORs are a lugged version and a "Gaunt.London" genuine example, slightly mis-struck but nevertheless Kosher.

A struck badge with manufacturer's plate, & a cast bgrass which I've always assumed is fake.

I have another struck stringed bugle somewhere, which has a (now dtached) slider with distinctive broad shoulders, I've always been doubtful about that one.

The WW2 regimental history shows several pics of O/Rs and NCOs wearing this type as well.
Leigh, you cast example might be ok, I have seen other period examples made in Egypt with similar flat brass loops.

However my great grandad served with Notts SRY in 1916, and I would like to know what the cap badge would have been like to enable to try and aquire one
