Exclamation Brisbane Floods - a huge disaster!

I guess this gets directed to Dean, Ted and all the other collectors here that live in Brisbane.

Are you guys ok? I hope that you all live up high on a hill.

For those who may not be aware, Brisbane (and 75% of Queensland) is getting hammered with flood waters (biggest in 100 years!) with Brisbane CBD starting to go under water and many suburbs flooded!

Many people will have their homes flooded - it really is Queensland's worst natural disaster. Many are now cut off, have no power (like my brother!) and many places are already underwater!

If I can assist in any way, let me know.

Mick

Hi Mick

many thanks for the message, all is good with us. we live in Cleveland which is well above sea level and there is no flood plains in our area. Leaving work (Domestic Airport) early due to the King tide coming in (1m above the normal which isnt going to help matters)

it is a crazy time for all and once again many thanks Ted

No worries mate - glad to see your safe. I was speaking to my brother - he is at Ipswich.

Cut off, no power but luckily not flooded!

Mick

We've been watching the BBC World News in Canada and we are appalled at the devastation being caused. We saw large trucks swept away like Dinkey toys. Worst of all, we saw people's homes destroyed in seconds.

The one thought uppermost in our minds is the knowledge that you Aussies will overcome this set-back with your usual resilience and courage.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. GOOD LUCK !

I have friends and relatives in the Brisbane area and so have been watching the news, it really is unimaginable what the forces of nature can do. It doesn't seem that being above sea level is any guarantee of safety as I see that in Toowoomba (on the top of the mountain) they too have had horrendous floods.

Default Brisbane Floods

Deepest sympathy to all those affected by the floods in Queensland.

Looking at the colour of those flood waters and thinking of all the topsoil which has been washed away, plus the damage to houses, suggests it is going to be a long time before Queensland recoveres from this terrible disaster.

One of my daughters spent Chritmas/New Year in Bundaberg, last news was flood waters were 300 yards from the homestead, but it seems they got a flight back to Melbourne OK.

I've been seeing some very scary pictures from these floods on TV - the people around Toowoomba, Brisbane, Ipswich and Central Queensland sure copped a hammering and I really feel for them.

And looks like it will get worse tomorrow!

My thoughts go with all Queensland collectors -- may you be able to protect your collections!

hi mick,

my thoughts and symphaty(hope that spelt right) goes out to all members in the queensland area.
loseing ones collection is one thing but loseing all you and your family have built up after a lifetime is something different that not many have had to cope with.

Smile Queensland Floods

Hi Mick

Good one......again, you are always on the ball.

Lets not forget that we also now have flooding in northern New South Wales and Goondawindie is also about to go under.

We have also had flooding in western Victoria this week at Natimut.

Whilst there may not be badge collectors in all these places our thoughts go out to those who have had drought for the last 10 years or more.

As for myself, Im on top of an 800 ft hill in the Dandenong Ranges about 35 Km east of Melbourne and our only danger is from bush fire, thank goodness its raining lightly and fire doesnot look like being a problem this summer.

Cheers

Phil.
