PPA Shoulder title?
G'day lads, I noticed this on ebay but I thought all the shoulder titles were either red on black or white on black.
Can anybody assist? is it an original? PRIVATE-ARMY-INSIGNIA-PATCH-ORIGINAL-/260691691189 |

Hi I am not sure te first PPA ones were blue red lettering and thereafter black white lettering. Bosleys did however in a postal auction have a red white lettering LRDG slip on which was also quite unusual (and was sold for 1.100 GBP plus premium!!) as usual LRDG is blue or black wih red lettering .

I have two badges of "PPA" - both for the Palestine Police Auxiliary.
1. A crown above "P.P.A", with the same shade of red cloth behind the crown. all in wm. I take this to be an Officer badge. 2. A wm disc (40mm dia) with laurel leaves around a blue enamel centre, with "PPA in wm superimposed. The two lugs have extremely large feet "soldered" to the back. I take this to be a badge below Officer rank. |

I used to have 5 of these badges...2 PPA and 3 LRDG they were all of the same manufacture with the white cotton embroider on red backing with the the red backing having a slanted weave to the emboidered letters. All with a convincing western desert backing. All were fake...and mine were never passed on as original from my original disposal of original badges. These were fakes from the early 70's or before. yours Ian
