ADMIRALTY FIRE FORCE
Recently on e bay was a badge to the "ADMIRALTY FIRE FORCE" and it sold for over £135. Has any forum member any information on this force?? The badge is the same size/shape as the Admiralty Constabulary/Police badge with QC and slider and made of white metal/chrome.
I have a picture but as I do not own the badge I cannot show it. No one? No ex Navy sen this badge??

I have never seen the badge you describe but it sounds very similar to the Admiralty fire prevention service cap badge. I think there have been serveral "Admiralty" fire services over the years, so this badge is probably one? I have seen an "Admiralty Fire Service" badge on the side of a vintage fire engine at a military vehicle show once as well and suspect that the civilian admiralty fire fighting organisations went through a similar evolution in cap badges and title as did the admiralty constabulary (various style of badges i.e anchor and laural leaves then star and admiralty constabulary and admiralty police!) I know that like the admiralty constabulary, air force department constabulary, war department constabulary and part of the UK atomic energy authority constabulary were made into the MOD Police, the admiralty fire prevention service, air force department fire service, procurement executive fire department and the army fire service were made into the MOD Fire and Rescue Service, so think this badge may be part of this evolution? there were other MOD fire services like those at shewburyness and of course the Royal Navy still has the RN fire and rescue service (RN Air Command Fire Service) and the RAF the RAF Crash and Rescue Service. Hope it's of some use Regards Tony Last edited by sailorbear; 25-09-10 at 06:27 PM. |

Thanks for the replys. I thought this would beat the forum members. I do not have a link to this badge as it is now well gone but I did save a picture of it for myself and I could PM this if it was wanted.
TONY(sailorbear) I have the ADMIRATY FIRE PREVENTION SERVICE with QC (as shown). The one in question is the same design as the Admiralty Constabulary/Police basge, as I said, with the words Admiralty Fire Force on it.

Admiralty Fire Prevention Service
Jerry,
Admiralty Fire Force turns up a "Nil Return" on Google apart form your post? The Fire Prevention Service looks just like the Constabulary badge, with the exception of the colour of the enamel and of course the wording? Andy |

ADMIRALTY FIRE FORCE
ANDY, Thanks for that. I had the same when I put it in Google aswell. The badge I am refering to is like this one but with constabulary/police replaced by FIRE FORCE.

The finish of the badge (it looks like white metal), would suggest use at an overseas establishment. The Admiralty Police (as opposed to Constabulary) badges which were worn at overseas bases all seem to have a white metal finish. I may be wrong but it seems a possibility.
