Default Brooched RAC collar badge

Good morning

Today’s solitary boot fair find is this brooched Royal Armoured Corps - would I be right in thinking it was originally an officer’s collar badge?

*It will be available for swap or sale in due course, but I’d like to be able to describe it accurately so any help would be appreciated*

Best

Graham

Giving this a gentle clean enabled me to look at it in more detail: it is possible it has been made from a collar badge which has then been silver plated, but from file-marks evident around the edge I think it more likely to have been cast in something like nickel-silver using a mould taken from an original collar badge.

Hi Graham, I have this one as JR Gaunt. This is only a guess on my part as I only have Gaunt and Ludlow officers k/c badges and this resembles the Gaunt style. There may be other officers manufactured badges but, other than Indian/M.E made ones, I don't have any, hope this helps, Mike
