Formation Sign Journal Latest Issue
The latest ediiton of the Journal of the Military Heraldry Society has just been published.
Articles include a look at the uniforms and insignia of Scripture Readers serving with the Royal Navy and Army, the unofficial cloth cap badge worn by 6th Battalion, The Lincolnshire Regiment and the glider badge of WW2 which was later authorsied as a battle honour badge. It also includes contemporary evidence of the use of the BLAV title by volunteers from South America and describes the insignia worn by volunteer drivers for the Royal Navy in WW2. There is the usual coverage of newly-introduced signs and of mystery signs requiring identification. The journal is only available to Society members but you can join for just £17 (UK members). Email militaryheraldrysociety@gmail.com for details of how to join. Jon |

One of the reasons I like The Formation Sign is that it seems virtually every issue answers a question I have about insignia I own or that are shown in photographs I own, or that I have been "wondering" about.

Another great edition ... and very useful to get updates to 'Badges on Battledress' ... the quality of the information in 'The Formation Sign' bulletin pays for the subscription many times over, let alone giving access to fellow collectors, trips, and some exclusive publications. Hoping more enthusiasts join too
