Default Early UDF officers picture

Hi,
I am hoping someone may be able to identify the UDF unit of these officers.
There are three officers in a picture along with some civilian clothed personel.

The enlarge picture show the officers. Left hand officer is wearing the UDF general service badge adopted c.1912 with cut-out background.
Officer in the centre wearing same badge but with a solid background on a wolsely helmet.
Right hand officer does not appear to be wearing a badge on his helmet.

Back of picture has a date written in pen of 1921. I am not sure whether this was written later and possibly a guess.

The items in question are the collar badges worn by the officer in the centre. These are Cape Colony coat-of-arms that were worn pre-union by various cape regiments without a defined collar badge, so that may place the picture more around pre WWI.

But which unit could these guys belong to?

Steven

An interesting photo. Perhaps the staff of a school, where three of the masters were the officers of the cadet detachment?

The officer on the right wears three medal ribbons which appear to be those for WWI (1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal), in which case the date 1921 could well be contemporary.
