Wlikinsons badge is correct for the period... and the badge shown in it is exactly the same as Jochims.... even down to the blemish on the top righ scroll edge (and the "A" in yeomanry):-
This is the badge I am looking for

Cox's book shows the second badge with the void between the scroll and leaves, and the side leaves not under the shield.

I think Andy is the best judge of the fake marks......
This is in the makers mark section..... if yours does not match the dimensions given then its a fake. J.R.GAUNT LONDON 1.5mm x 23.75mm BTW KK1357 & 1483 both have the leaves under the shield.

Unfortunately while the mark is right for a 1950s badge the regt ceased to wear them in 1919.

Alan no offence intended but where does it say this is a 1950s mark

Malc,
None taken. I am happy to clarify and accept evidence to the contrary. With the exception of a couple of incidences where sliders have been replaced every other badge with this mark is from that period. The marking of WW1 badges by the big firms (Lambournes, BP&Co and other small suppliers did) was not usual and certainly not by Gaunts. Indeed it is not until WW2 that this starts and is not the norm until post WW2. I did see this on a fake Gaurds MG badge and I suspect the sldier had been put on a fake badge to decieve. I much prefer the unvoided ribbons one as it is in Wilkinsons early editions of his book. Cox's book is not a reliable source as it shows some repros and fakes in it. This should be a very rare badge. It is the most common of yeomanry badges which is why I disregard every example that I see from the same die as known fakes. Alan |

Lincolnshire Yeomanry - Long slider type badge.
Quote:
Hello All, I followed this thread quite a while back and have taken on board all the comments made about the attributes of a genuine slidered Lincs Yeomanry badge, very informative they were too. I bought this one on eBay recently in my quest for an original.I know the badge doesn't fit the criteria of what a good original badge should be,but I was intrigued by the length of the slider. As can be seen by the rear view,it is long and tapering, much like the unvoided laurel example. The numbers stamped on the back hold no significance, but the badge is very solid and deeply struck, a lot more so than any modern copy i've seen, and as said, the long slider makes it a variant which I'm not familiar with. Any opinions are welcome. Cheers. Alan |

There were about 1400 men who served overseas with this unit including officers. There will be two or three hundred more who served from 1908 - 1914.

Do I take it that that this badge is not of that period then?
