Default Royal Sussex Regiment Bullion Blazer Badge?

I picked this badge up thinking that it may be a Royal Sussex Regiment blazer badge, it measures 75mm x 55mm.

Whatever it was attached to, it has been trimmed to outline prior to being stitched to it, thus there's no indication of a scroll bearing the regimental title having been removed from below the star.

It appears to be too large to be a cap or collar badge and illustrations I've seen of those insignia show enamelled silver central designs.

Am I correct in thinking it's a blazer badge?

Edit - I hadn't noticed until now - the central device Garter motto is on a circlet, rather than on a buckled strap.
