Thanks Mark - https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...=Legion+button is the link I think you started on the British German Legion to which the late Roger ‘Cribyn’ added a button reference I haven’t obtained as yet.

Cheers Dean

Hi Dean,

Some very nice buttons there - thanks for showing.

For your info, I have attached a couple of photos of The British German Legion and British Swiss Legion buttons.

A large Gilt Button to the British German Legion, circa 1855-1856.
Diameter : 23.3mm
Backmark : FIRMIN & SONS . 153 STRAND LONDON .

A medium sized British Swiss Legion button, circa 1855-1856.
(Button look to be dug with damage and wear to the front with small hole at about 6-O-Clock)
Diameter : 20.2mm
Backmark : (none)

Cheers

Ian

Thanks Ian they are an interesting series of buttons and I appreciate you sharing them, great to see several of the others. I will share more of mine, certainly an enormous field of study. Just looking at RE Submarine Miners there are a plethora, best regards Dean.

I believe the Black Horn horn buttons were worn by Officer's of British Regiments in Canada c1850-60's as the Horn didn't get as 'cold' to the touch as metal buttons - but that maybe just an old tale.
