A NZ army badge - potential danger to Australians
Hi
I recently bought an army badge from New Zealand. When I opened the small package, following its arrival yesterday, I was amused to find the following leaflet from the Australian Border Force enclosed in the package. For some reason the contents generated some interest with ABF. It would have been interesting to have known the what the concern was and the potential threat it could have posed to Australia. Probably a random inspection?

Or, riffing on 'Hanlon's Razor', never attribute to malice that which is easily explained by 'curiosity'. Slow day at the Customs Post, package goes through the scanner, say "what the heck is that?", open the package up, say "OH!", then slip in the note to CYA before resealing and forwarding.

In all my years of collecting, I've only had two packages opened. One was fine and all was there but the other did have some missing items. Having no idea where it was opened i had no way of pursuing it.
I am happy to see this and henceforth will be very suspicious of any Australian Borders sent my way! Seriously, as long as nothing is ost I am happy that someone is checking for dangerous items. I am amazed at how many guns our local airport confiscates each year from people trying to carry them on board flights!!! Terry |
