2nd V.B. Gloucestershire Regiment
Not one I’ve seen before, Keith.
I’d like to see the back but the main badge and scroll both look righteous. Before others end up going down the rabbit hole of the Gloucesters never wearing a BB badge, I’ll add that coincidentally I was in touch with the forum’s Daniel Brinson a couple days ago. He showed me an early photo of a BB badge being worn by a man in full dress with a T-5 shoulder title and black buttons. Those around him in khaki SD wore a Wm badge. The 2nd V.B. I believe became the 5th Bn TF. He also showed me his (5th Bn) badge which was looped with hobbed lettering from behind. A very nice, early example IMO. And very similar to the above, less the scroll. I’ve taken the liberty of brightening the above image to better see the scroll. |

He’s the man to ask about this and may even be the current owner, David Smith is very knowledgeable on Gloucester also. It was auctioned a number of years ago, East Bristol Auctions from memory and as a unique badge, the 2nd VB usually wore the blank tablet Sphinx with and without the SA honour scroll.
The point being never dismiss a VB badge unless it’s an obvious dud, the City of Norwich badge is the early 1st VB Norfolk and my hunch is that the 1st VB Britannia scrolled badge is very late, maybe worn 1907-8 only. The badge in this thread could be a stop gap. |

Another example of this type of 2nd scroll being tagged on under an all Wm example.
This time the 2nd V.B. West Yorkshire Regiment. |
