Canadian Correspondent titles
Not everything goes through on line auctions. I recently acquired these titles, which are a slip on, a bullion wire title and the regular Correspondent Canada title. According to the seller, the patches came from the estate of Bill Bos, a noted Canadian War Correspondent in WW2 and Korea. Rare items.

Buying badges
Despite all the talk of online sales, this is proof that the good stuff is still out there, you just have to get off your computer seat and look.

Very nice insignia Bill!
Did they wear the bullion "C" cap badge too? I mean this one: |

Hi Luc, Yes to the best of my knowledge, they did wear that. But I think there were other headdress badges as well?

I will see what I can find in the recent "Ink and Images" publication on Canadian correspondents insignia.

Interesting how similar the slip-on titles are for the British and Canadian press.

Perhaps they are both British made?

Most photos show the Maple Leaf GS badge in wear by Canadian correspondents.

Here are some photos of the Canadian correspondent Lionel Shapiro. The book was published in 1944 and is mostly about the Canadians on Sicily.

Faces of War...
A search on the Faces of War image gallery had 17 hits, with several interesting photos of Canadian war correspondents. The only cap badges evident in the images were the maple leaf pattern and an officer's general list pattern. There were no bullion wire "C" cap badges. A couple of interesting photos from the data base.
Canadian war correspondents Gillis Purcell (left) of Canadian Press and Ralph Allen of The Globe and Mail attending an investiture ceremony, Antwerp, Belgium, 18 October 1944. Note the 2nd Corps patches and the Canadian War Correspondent titles. War correspondent Douglas Amaron of the Canadian Press interviewing two British members of a Bofors anti-aircraft gun crew, Grave, Netherlands, 11 February 1945. Note the cap badge on Mr. Amaron. Hi Bill, I have seen a B/W photograph of Doug Fisher wearing a peaked cap and and a cloth correspondent badge without the "C". Also, my friend bought,a few years ago in Toronto, from the Martin Kampmann collection that same cap badge.
