Well done for spelling ANZAC correctly with capital letters. It is annoying that most media now spell it as Anzac, then again most of them probably wouldn't know what the initials mean.

You can find this in the rules and protocols of the very first link I posted.
'Anzac' The importance of 'Anzac' to New Zealand is enshrined in law with the use of the term 'Anzac' protected since 1916. Section 17 of the Flags, Emblems, and Names Protection Act 1981 states that, 'The Governor-General may... prohibit, regulate, or control the use in connection with any business, trade, or occupation of the word 'Anzac' or of any other word that so closely resembles the word 'Anzac' as to be likely to deceive or mislead any person.' This means that the term 'Anzac' can’t be used for any commercial venture. It is also protected under international copyright laws. The Ministry has compiled some guidelines as to what uses of Anzac or ANZAC will generally not be in breach of the prohibition in section 17. We recommend using the term 'ANZAC' with all capitals only when referring to the specific Corps. For all other uses 'Anzac' is preferred. |

Good then New Zealanders don't mind their country being spelled as 'new zealand' but frankly I'm concerned about how it is referred to here not in New Zealand (correct way of spelling).

Peter I see nothing that is sensible in your posts, if you are annoyed "that most media now spell it as Anzac" you really should take it up with the Australian media themselves.
The following picture is an original ANZAC badge design, drawn by an ANZAC on his arrival in England after just being evacuated from ANZAC. Seems to me in the eyes of some ANZACs, the ANZAC legend was something much more than just ANZAC. |

It's irrelevant to me what you think is sensible or not sensible.
Notice that the person who did the drawing who was actually there used capital letters, unlike you and the majority of the socialistic MSM who either doesn't understand that correct punctuation uses capital letters for countries or you're just too lazy to do it. However keep ranting as I find it amusing. |

Peter, this is not the first time we have played keyboard warriors overs grammatical errors, and sadly you have not learned, that if you insist on correcting someone’s else’s grammar, make sure you don’t make any mistakes, otherwise you just look like you don’t know what you are talking about.
Post #6 is how we respect the ANZAC legend here in New Zealand, the fact that you cannot respect that is very disappointing. I do not believe you are the voice of all Australians in your claims that the word Anzac when used in Australia is always spelt with all capital letters. The following two links from your own Government history page and from the Australian War Memorial suggest it is you who has got it all completely wrong. http://www.army.gov.au/Our-history/T...-for-Anzac-Day https://www.awm.gov.au/commemoration/anzac-day/ Unless you have something constructive to contribute about Anzacweek please do not comment on this thread. |

No it is you who has got it wrong along with the Australian government and the AWM.
Are you suggesting that New Zealand should be spelt as new zealand? Are you suggesting that the Indian soldier who fought at ANZAC Cove and did the drawing also got it wrong? Are you suggesting that the AWM are wrong with their spelling on this page? https://www.awm.gov.au/military-event/E70/ Are you suggesting that the Australian and Turkish governments are wrong with their memorial? Are you suggesting that the Australian and New Zealand governments were wrong using capital letters for this memorial at ANZAC Cove? Are you suggesting that a copy of the map of ANZAC Cove is wrong for using capital letters because you and others are too ignorant or arrogant or lazy to do so yourselves? I am suggesting that you are both right, both spellings have been used for many years and are accepted. Please forget the unimportant and try to respect the memory of the men who fought and fell at Gallipoli.

Growing weed and smoking it is legal and accepted in a number of US states, it doesn't mean it's right.
The conversation has never been about the men who fought, died, were wounded or suffered PTSD at Gallipoli. The conversation is because so many people including those who work in government departments won't use the correct spelling which is spelling the word with capital letters. People including atillathenunns can spell it whichever way they like but it doesn't make it right. |
