Default RAAF lamp

Hi all,

First time poster so just be kind

Look my grandfather had pasted away and I never got the chance to ask him about the origin of a RAAF lamp he had.

Just wondering if anyone out there knows what's it is for or why he would of got it? He was in the airforce around world war 2 but wasn't sure if this was just a lamp he would of bought or a lamp he may have been presented etc.

Any info would be great, and also I'm planning on keeping it but wouldn't mind knowing it's value if any. Hope the attachment helps
Cheers

I'd almost put money on it that was produced in house. Some great metal craftsmen in the RAAF.

hey mate
I have seen army AIF and RAN versions also.
probably made in the 40s and sold and probably used as a memory or respect for a loved one in that particular service.

Thanks guys, had spoken to a collector yesterday and he thought they were a souviner for members of the RAAF. Said this one is quite rare as he has seen the army ones etc but not the RAAF one. Happy to know at least where it has come from.. He offered $300 but think I'll be keeping it for the moment.
Thanks for the replies! If anyone has any more specific details that would be great

In modern times the Naafi and PRI shops on camp would have sold similar items as souvenirs. My mum still has a few which I brought back from service.
