Default AUXILIARY UNIT LAPEL BADGE

An article in a magazine just out mentions that 3,500 Auxiliary Units lapel badges were made by J.R. Gaunts of London in 1944. The men were charged six pence.
Because of the secret nature of the service the men got no public recognition only a letter from the Commander of Home Forces and the lapel badge.

Can anyone expand on the manufacture and issue of the lapel badges please.
