Default Glasgow Highlanders SNCO's Glengarry Badge

Another of today's pick ups, This came on a Glengarry. Does anyone know what looks like a 3 stamped to the rear (bottom right) is for?
Thanks
Paul

You may find that if you take the badge apart the other bits have 3 stamped or scratched on them to aid reassembly after they had been off to the platers, they may have made 10 badges like this at one go and the parts may not be interchangeable.

Thanks Andy,
Tempting as it is to take it apart. It needs some tlc first as the pin holding the Sphinx and screw holding St.Andrew seem to have a few years grime which I think may be difficult to remove without damage at the moment.

Default Glasgow Highlanders

Hi Paul
I agree with Andy regarding the numbers on the badge parts. I attach some pictures of my example of the Glasgow Highlanders badge.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for sharing that, very interesting indeed.

From memory I don't recall if any of mine (album link below) are numbered in such a way, but I will sure bear it in mind for the future.

Cheers,

Thanks Eric,
It's nice to know that the same attention to detail was given to these badges as was to the Waist Belt Clasps of an earlier era with the bench mark number.
