Default OTC & CCF cap badges 1979?

Hi all, a couple of questions I hope someone may be able to answer?

Cranleigh School, Portsmouth Grammar School and Christ's Hospital School Horsham, did they all have CCF units in 1979, with their own cap badges?

Oxford University, London city University and Cambridge University all have OTC units, I assume they all had OTC units in 1979? where the cap badges the same as the current ones worn?

And lastly does anyone have a definitive answer to how many CCF and OTC units there were in 1979 (if any such information is actually available?)

Many thanks

Tony

Oxford,Cambridge and London UOTCs wear the same badges then as they do now.
Cranleigh,Portsmouth and Christs Hospital would have existed in 1979 but not sure which badges they were wearing.

I have these 3 Christ Hospital cadet badges which I assume were worn in 1979.
Bronze coloured, Gilding metal & Anodised.

I believe Cranleigh may have been wearing the Queens Regt badge in 1979

PGS still wear their school badge to this day.

There was also a separate CCF unit for Portsmouth Southern Grammar School in 1979 with the attached badge.

I know it’s not 1979 but if you use the search facility and enter the phrase “the CCF in 1965” it will take you to a listing of the 307 CCF units in existence at that time - at least it’s a starting point

PSGS ceased to exist a few years earlier in 1974.

Thanks for the correction, Alan.

My old school, but I’d forgotten how soon after I left that it went comprehensive and the CCF was no more.

Things were different then - kids in battledress with Sterlings in morning assembly and firing Bren guns in the playground after school!

Sounds normal for some schools today.

I read somewhere on here that they also wore a cloth beret badge for a number of years before going back to a metal badge.
