S.A.S COLLAR BADGE

Hi Guys,
Not my area of expertise here so opinions on this S.A.S collar badge I pickled up today would be welcomed.
It's a nice sturdy badge with what appears to be a good patina - no rough edges on this piece. What bothers me is that it doesn't have the "who dares wins" motto on the scroll. It looks to me as if it never had one in the first place!
Anyway, a couple of pics supplied and opinions on this badge welcomed.
