Metal SAS Officers Badge
Hi all, I was hoping that those who specialize in SF badges could fill me in as to when, if ever this badge was worn. It is a multi-piece, silver and frosted gilt badge. No marks on it that I can see. I'm not even sure it's British.
Regards, Greg |

British SAS officers wear embroidered bullion badges in the beret (no other form of dress headdress is worn), the construction of you badge looks fine and although I do not collect collar badges, I would say that your badge is more likely to be an Officers Service Dress collar badge!

Silver and gilt cap badge
hi,
That badge is a silver and gilt cap badge as worn on the peaked cap of the No. 1 dress back (Blues) in the early days of 21 SAS and worn at the Coronation. Not all silver and gilt cap badges are that old, but this one looks good. The officers collar dogs are small version of the cap badge. Pretty nice badge. best regards, Johan |

Rhodesia
Andy,
Good to know the same silver and gilt cap badge was worn in Rhodesia by officers on a pale blue background. best regards, Johan |

The silver and gilt anodised aluminium badges worn by the RhSAS on a pale blue background was worn by all ranks before they went to a cloth beret badge. The badge was also quite unlike the reverse of the badge shown here.
