Just to see if I have understood right. If the makers mark has a "." between Gaunt and London, and measures approx 15mm, then its a restrike.

If thats right, then I have 2 more duds, Intell Corp(KC) and AAC(KC).

Thanks Alan

From what you said, can I assume that the ACC badges were lugs only?

I now know the J.R.GAUNT & SON LTD mark was definitely valid for 1916

I see what you mean Mike and that may have been the case, but I'd have been happier with a photograph of the back of this thing with such a mark on it rather than on the package !

I did think of that... honest... and of course, no guarantee other gaunt marks weren't in use at the same time as well.

interesting NCC, and by the time they were making WW1 comrades lapels (1920s I guess) they were using JR GAUNT LONDON

centre top

wonder what happened to gaunt junior? enlisted 1917?

I would like to bring this thread alive as I'm unsure about the originality of a 11mm Gaunt London marked badge. It is not the exact same mark as seen on the Gaunt page: there were 2 major flaws on the stamp that was used on my badge and the full stop is not in the middle. I believed it to be a replica, but fellow collector just showed me an identical given to him by a veteran.
I'd appreciate you thoughts.

I met 4 DDay veterans in normandy last year - all were from the same Corps. One had a WW2 cap badge, one a collar badge, one a cast badge and one a post war a/a badge.

My point is that often the veterans are not original badges. That mark doe not look good to me. What is the badge?
