Essex Pipeband
My grandfather Sgt Bob Laidlaw was the Pipe Sgt of the Essex Scottish, and was acting P/M on the raid. Captured and held Stalag VIIIB. He had been with the regiment since 1923. Joined at 14.
My great uncle James Laidlaw was P/S of the 21st Essex Fusiliers, later P/M of the 1st Training Depot CAMC Pipe Band. (Died 12/16 of pneumonia) A/Sgt |

I am a piper
I am a new (48 year old) Piper with the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Pipes and Drums. I wish I had started as a kid! My dad is playing bass drum along with me at 75. He played with my grandfather in the Plymouth Kilties (the Chrysler Corporate band) in the fifties.
Take care, I am watching for your stuff on ebay. As you can tell i have connection to the 21st Essex, and the Essex Scottish. Take care, Philip |
