Default Blackened Army Catering Corps shoulder title

Hi folks

I have here what appears to be a standard ACC small brass officers shoulder title.
The only difference is the front has been blackened,

Is this just someone messing about or was there a practice with ACC attached to Light Infantry, RGJ or Gurkhas to blacken their bits......as it were?

Regards
Sean

Default Thought...RA

RA in NI early Op Banner wore blackened RA in Berets...I haven't any other s/t's used but a number also wore blackened collars as cap badges in NI inc collars which aren't mini cap badges in design.
