Default Help with button ID

I would appreciate any help I can get with these buttons, they are as follows:-

1 A plain backed brass button with a capital letter "I"

2 A plain backed brass button with a capital letter "C

3 A white metal button with H. Lotery & Co Ltd on reverse

4 A brass button with Scovill Mfg Co ?essory on reverse

5 A brass button with Waterbury Cos. Conn on reverse, this has the letter "C" in the shield

6 A brass button plain backed this has the letter "A" in the shield

7 A brass button with A U WEIN 1 Qualitat on reverse

8 A brass button with D. GURTEEN & SONS HAVERHILL on reverse

Buttons 4, 5, and 6 I think are American, with 7 and 8 being either French or Belgian, but I did not know that D. Gurteen made military buttons and certainly not for other countries.

Thanks in advance
Rob

The third button in chrome with the inverted "U" is worn by various transport/tramway companies in the UK.

#1 confederate infantry

#2 Confederate cavalry

#5 Union cavalry

#6 Union Artillery

These have been heavily reproduced for the American Civil War re enactment community. I have a very large box of such buttons.

Default Button ID

Thanks chaps for your speedy replies, these all came together in a large lot of very mixed items which included badges, photos, Home Guard/LDV which were IMO all genuine.
These US Civil War items are probably not original which is not a problem as they cost very little and are not in my collecting field.

Looks like a lot of them had some connection to BETCO :

British Electric Traction Company Limited

If you add pictures of the backs of the unidentified buttons, I can try to find out if they are genuine.

Default Buttons

I have tried to photograph the backs without any real success, the only two I have yet to ID are 7 and 8 of which I will keep the one made by D. GURTEEN & SONS HAVERHILL on reverse as it is local to me.

American Civil War is of no real interest to me whether original or copies.

But thanks to all who have helped me.

The only button with any connection to the British Electric Traction Company Limited is button 3. The button in the opening post is shown upside down.

OK, understood. The BETC operated tramways all over the UK. It was one large company and not a group of companies.
