Default Wooden printing block to the Norfolk Regt

This printing block has in the top scroll
A.RACE
Then Britannia with a number 2 underneath
On the bottom scroll THE NORFOLK REGT.

Any ideas what A. Race means

Could it be the owner's name with the wooden block being used for printing a book plate?

Sorry, I cannot help, but as an observation - as it's a printing block - I may be mistaken, but it appears that the No.2 will be the wrong way around if it's actually used to print something.

Default Norfolk Lino cut

This is not a printing block as the wording would be reversed to print, possibly a lino cut as an exam piece for an art college with the name of the person who carved it above.

Could it possibly be a linocut for 'blind embossing' papers/documents ?

Unless I am missing something, it is reversed as a printing block should be (check out image in post #1) Mike has flipped the original image so it is easier to read, unless I have totally misunderstood

I would say that the number 2 is lower than the rest of the block. Maybe it's just a plate number.
