Its worth bearing in mind that when the Met. Police initiate a change of uniform item, its not unusual for the change to take place over two and sometimes three years. The exceptionally large strength of the force is the reason. Change usually is done division by division. Wilkinson & Taylor is a better book in terms of accuracy, especially in respect of the Met. Police. The authors were both Met. senior officers.
