Default Possible Flying club wing

I would be grateful for some help in identifying this wing I acquired in a job lot.

At first I thought the RFC reference was to do with the Royal Flying Corps, but that is probably unlikely. It is possibly a flying club badge but I have no idea which one. I did see a reference on an earlier thread to a book about Civil Aviation wings for sale on Amazon, but I can't justify buying it for this one wing at the moment as it may not feature in the book.

The wing looks to be quite well made, but I am unsure of the period although the red crown suggests pre 1953 and possibly some Navy connection.
