Default Advice sought please

Hi

I came across your site as I am having a medal cabinet made to house both my late father and grandfather's medals from WW2 and WW1 respectively. My father was in the Royal Artillery Maritime Regiment and I was hoping to be able to purchase a lapel or cap badge to go in the cabinet. My father did have a lapel badge and a badge on his blazer but it was important for me that he took those with him on his final journey. I seem to remember it was once RAAA I think then changed. There is so little about for this regiment, which is a shame.

My grandfather enlisted in the Army Service Corps in 1914 and ended up in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. The medal company I went to yesterday didn't have anything for either regiment and so I am hoping for advice from this forum.

Many thanks

Janny

Janny,

Both the RA and ASC are very common badges and can be had for less than a fiver.

Thanks Alan

I need the Royal Artillery Marine Regiment (RAMR) and Loyal North Lancashire Regiment as well. I cannot find much for the RAMR especially , perhaps you can point me in the right direction.

Do you mean Royal marine Artillery? If so most dealers have their grenade badge for about a tenner. Try Clanfield Militaria.

I looked at their site, good selection. But they only seem to accept cheques. Tough being here in the US. Wish they accepted Paypal.
Simon.

I think you mean Royal Artillery Maritime Regiment, of which there are a couple of threads on the forum.

Standard RA cap badge was worn, there are also two variations of a cloth sleeve badge and a qualification badge.

Hi Longshanks

Clanfield (Lew Shotton) will take paypal but you will probably have to pay the 4% handling - Great dealer though so probably best to drop him an email

I have bought from Lew for many years from the US - you should have no major issue.

It's the Royal Artillery Maritime Regiment. Dad was a Gunner on the D.E.M.S - Defence Equipped Merchant Ships during WW2. I have a feeling that the regiment only lasted for the duration of the war, that's why it's so hard to find out much about it and even harder to get memorabilia.

Hi Simon,

Lew Shotton of Clanfield Militaria takes PayPal from me and has done so for years.

Tell him what you want and ask for payment via PayPal - he will add on about 4% which is the amount PayPal charges him.

Regards

Chris
