Could it be that what appears to be the Yellow lanyard is in fact that of Sovereign's Company? Best wishes Gordon |

Thanks - the lanyards still relate to the College intakes so that would make the yellow one first term and the red final term. william is wearing the tricolour one on pass off for Soverign's pl.

Don't worry,I have very thick skin. I took it in jest and actually thought it rather good. I'm still trying to work out my number in Roman numerals.
1VV111V0 I think. Best wishes Gordon |

Hi
Can anyone please pos i.d. this RMA silver bullion badge? It doesn't look like a blazer badge; could it be a WO's? Thanks, GTB |

Sports colours badge. This is a first colour - i.e a major sport. There's also a version without the wreath which was a minor sports colour.
Now for the controversal bit! It was worn on the breast pocket of the issue double breasted blue reefer jacket (aka blazer for the uninitiated) - but of course as any gentleman knows you should never, ever wear a badge on a double breasted reefer. In the day, officers wore a double breasted reefer with NO badge; NCOs and ORs wore a single breasted blazer with a badge; WOs as usual pleased themselves. And to make things difficult if you were a member of the RMAS sailing club you wore black buttons rather than gilt on your reefer. Eddie PS. Mine was a first colour for skiing! |

Thanks Eddie, most imformative. Obtained with a frame of bullion rank & trade badges to mislead!
Do I understand correctly that the white in the badge has significance to the sport? Or am i way off the mark? Apologies for making everyone bend their neck to see image. Tried righting it but image freezed. Rgds, GTB |

No - I think silver is used to represent silver/WM.

OK - clearer now.
Can you perhaps clear another nagging point concerning the RMA ST? Westlake states that the Academy wore R.M.A. titles (I take it these were Brass, Curved, but will stand corrected on this matter). If so,can you confirm if this applied to both RMA (Woolwich) and RMA (Sandhurst) - pre and post amalgamation? My naggging point is this: I am not quite comfortable that 2 units of the British Army, viz. Royal Military Academy and Royal Malta Artillery would concurrently wear identical STs, unless the latter sanctioned use of curved ST after the Academy's amalgamation to RMAS. Finally, is the rMAS title curved? Rgds, GTB |

No shoulder titles, straight, curved, brass or WM in my time - 1966-68.
