Border Regiment x 2
Interested as always in opinions of 2 Border Regt badges-look ok to me- one much polished and the other has a piece of red felt beneath the slider as per pic.

Both should have the red felt but it invariably gets lost over time. Both look to be original to me and the one with the crimp on the slider is probably the earlier of the two.

Border badges
Hi, just to put the cat amongst the pigeons,I have no problem with the badge with the red felt,I would not like to put the other one in my collection I think it looks terrible from the front and back,I like to see 5 voids in my border badges, obviously just my opinion.

Both are original badges, but the right badge looks to have had the slider replaced with the rather wonky one now.

One thing to look for in genuine Border badges is the gaps around the dragon. There should be 5 holes between legs, tail etc. Less than that and it is likely a fake.

Border regiment have been faked (Martine Marsh etc). Any with lugs, drilled holes rather than pierced dragon and not having the brass reataining strip should be viewed with suspicion.
