Hi Jo
Thanks for that. Did histomil dot com colorize the original, I wonder. I had only seen the Black and White Image before. http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discove...IdNumber=1911& regards Darrell

Hi Jo
No. now that I look more closely at the B&W and colour photos of Sgt Gerard Alderic Durocher, I think they are each their own photo. Two cameras, one B&W and one colour film perhaps? Nice Citation for his MM too. Downgraded from the DCM he was originally nominated for. http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhh-...AV-DUV_099.pdf regards Darrell

The images are both black and white and colour photograpy. Colour film was in its infancy at the time but there are many colour images in an LAC file. This is one of several colour images of the contingent that went to Berlin in the summer of 1945. Other colour images appear to be as early as 1943.

Hi Bill
Yes but they are indeed different images. Look at his right arm. Maybe same photographer (Michael M. Dean?) but certainly different photos. I don't see the colour shot in LAC's online archive. regards Darrell

The colour file was copied from archives. Some of the images are online, but not all.

Darrell:
Thank you for the link to the recommendation that resulted in the awarding of the MM. Interesting to note that the top signature on the right is OC LCol J.A Dextraze who went on to become the Chief of Defense Staff in the early 1970's. I had the privilege of meeting him in Cold Lake once. Don |

Hi Don
You are welcome. That resource wasn't always on the public internet but I'm glad they made it available. Plenty of familiar names if one looks at enough citations. I had the pleasure of looking up most of the awards to members of Armoured Regiments. The RCAC Assoc site has each regiment's awards for ww2(for the most part) and then those citation pages are a treat to read!! regards Darrell
