SAN Nutria mustering badge
Does anyone know of or have seen a SAN Marine mustering badge yellow screen print on nutria? If so a photo or info will be most helpful.
Thanks, Neville

Hi Neville
I've never seen one but it is possible some may have been made when the navy briefly changed to nutria in 1982. I doubt if any were issued though. Cheers, Alex |

My thoughts aswell, in 8 years of collecting SAN mustering badges have never heard of or seen a nutria mustering badge. I asked the question because another poster on a fourm insists that the marines were made and issued.

Hi Neville
Sorry, he may be right on that one. I think there may have been a Marine branch one but not for any of the other trades. Mostly the marines osed the blue on white and gold on black though. I assumed the question was referring to the period when the blue navy wore browns for a while. Cheers, Alex |

Hi Alex,
Sorry should have mentioned it we are just talking about the Marines. But I agree with you I don't think the Marines would have worn a mustering badge on nutria. I know in the early "marine" days we wore yellow (safron) on black rank badges with our nutria bush dress, but still navy style with rank only on left arm. Neville

Hi Neville
Definitely needs a bit more investigation, I'll ask around. Cheers, Alex |
