Maybe it is on the same server as the Royal Artillery 1939-1945 web site, that disappeared a few months back.

I had it on my bookmarks and just clicked on it and got this
This site can’t be reached The web page at http://british-army-units1945on.co.u...-11-to-15.html might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Search Google for british army units 1945 co uk royal electrical mechanical engineers field infantry armoured workshops ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED It's possible that it's only a temporary fault , I hope so as it is an excellent site. |

I am afraid this is worse then only some temporary system down.
Looking if the hostname can be resolved to an IP address I get: ** server can't find british-army-units1945on.co.uk: NXDOMAIN In other words, the domain is not in DNS (the world wide "telephone dictionary" of the internet) any more. This however can also be temporary (let us hope) e.g. because the registration wasn't payed for in time.

This site disappeared like this once before about three years ago but eventually came back.
As there's nothing like it anywhere else in print or on the net let's hope it reappears. Jon |

Anyone using the link below should seriously consider making a donation:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/http:/...ts1945on.co.uk Not to me of course , but to the Wayback Machine: https://archive.org/web/ It is unlikely that the e-mail address will function, but in my earlier post I have given the owner's name and address. You may investigate and try to contact him. |

Missing Website - british-army-units1945on.co.uk
I am new to the forum as I wanted to post this to ler you know about the above website:
Today I emailed Alan Young using his personal email as I had previously corresponded with him from time to time. I received notification from his daughter that her father Alan sadly passed away last year. She also stated the following regarding the website: The service provider that was used for the website unfortunately ceased proving pwp websites and deleted my dad's and thousands of other websites. I aim to Re create it but this will take some time due to the volume of information and pictures that were on it. His other site http://argylls1945to1971.co.uk Is still available to view and will be for the foreseeable future as it is with another service provider. |

If members found this a useful site, could it be considered to offer support and create a special forum section for it?
