Default Royal Naval Engineering College (RNEC) buttons

Hi, I'm a new member and this is my first post.

I’d be grateful for any information or suggest an information source about the button types shown in the attached image. So far, I’ve been unable to find any written or photographic evidence about them.

Apparently, this type of button was only worn by staff at the RNEC, Plymouth (Keyham and Manadon sites). This implies that there was some sort of uniform or at least a working dress for the staff.

The 4 buttons shown are the same design and size (25mm dia) and made by Firmin, London. However, there are 3 different finishes: silver plate, white metal (nickel), anodised aluminium (‘Staybrite’). This suggests that their use covered a significant period of time.

Thanks,
David
