Default Brassard/Arm Band mystery

Greetings!

Seeking identification on another museum item. This one has provenance to the Regina Rifles Regiment/Royal Regina Rifles, the owner was regiment Quartermaster from D-Day forward and his career extended beyond the war, although I'm not sure for how long.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what the G represents. Would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks for the tip, Sapper.

That got me on the right track and I found this related information, which basically says Canadian Headquarters staffs were separated into "G" Branch (Operations), "A" Branch (Administration) and "Q" Branch (Logistics). These applied at brigade, division, corps and army levels so, I suppose that all staff officers must have worn these brassards.
