Default For Sale 17th/21st Lancers Smaller (Sidehat ?) Motto

On offer is a white metal 17th/21st Lancers "Motto", smaller than the standard size motto measuring 40mm wide x 30mm tall (approx.). Two lugs to the rear which appear to have been silvered at some time ? Last time I had a badge of this size it was a chrome example and was attached to a sidehat. This example is white metal, possibly a Warrant Officers version ? Priced at 315 including UK postage.

Hi Paul

My understanding with the small sized Mottoes with lugs were worn on the Beret and maybe the coloured side cap up to QRL but obviously not by RL owing to the new design as you would know. Also the original white metal large sized collars were also of this size but they have "ears"

Hope that helps.

Phil.

Hi Phil

Its a Gaunt made die stamped white metal thats been silver plated.... if you look carefully it has long loops (not the short "D" loops for collars). A guestimate would be a 1970s SNCO beret badge. https://www.paoyeomanry.org.uk/Motto/OffBeretGaunt.htm
