Default CINQUE PORTS

I have the attached 2 Cinque Ports shoulder titles but I am unsure who would have worn these ?
I seem to remember that the yellow on brown maybe affiliated to 4th/5th Royal Sussex Regt ?
The white on blue maybe/could be Royal Signals ?
Can a member confirm or tell me who would wear these?
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,

You are correct, the first title was worn directly under the Royal Sussex title on battle dress. Circa 1950s if I recall.

The blue and white is signals, but often incorrectly identified as 4th/ 5th Bn.

I'll dig out some photos.

I hope this helps.

KR,

Pete

Thanks Pete for the conformation. With the R. Sigs title was there a particular Sqn/Regt who wore it. I think I once saw a reference to a 44(CINQUE PORTS) Sqn. Can this be confirmed also?
Jerry.

The first one would be yellow on grey rather than on brown wouldn't it or am I thinking of a different incarnation of the badge?

It looked brown to me. I have looked under different light and yes it could be yellow on Grey.
Thanks for the pointer.

Found this in a post with photo of title by Jon (Postwarden) :

"When 44th (Home Counties) Signal Regiment absorbed 62nd Signal Regiment (Cinque Ports) in 1962 the new regiment adopted the supplementary title ‘Cinque Ports’ in Royal Signals colours, its use extended in May 1963 to WRAC attached to 44th Signal Regiment."

Hi Jerry,

Certainly grey, not brown. A throwback to when the 1st Cinque Ports RVC were colloquially known as 'Brookfield's Greys' after the colour of their uniform and CO, perhaps.

Photo of mine, without the Royal Sussex titles worn above, for reference.

KR,

Pete.
