Essex Yeomanry selection
I hope all are keeping safe and well.
I've enjoyed seeing the various displays of unit badges over the last few weeks. I thought I'd join in and share some of mine now I have had the chance to mount my collection. I haven't decided on framing yet but at least this way they're in one place and I know what I have spare. First up, Essex Imperial Yeomanry. I think I've shared this one before in one of my albums but this is the latest state of play. Not too many badges for this unit so can manage on an A3 size board. Am nearly there now and in optimism have left spaces for my wants (though looking at it now I realise I missed one..), but I am realistic about my chances of finding them!! |

Essex Yeomanry
Next one, Essex Yeomanry.
I um'd and ah'd a long time over this one and a number of permutations but in the end went for one extra large board rather than multiple smaller ones. Going large is probably not to everyone's taste but I couldn't find a way to split it across separate ones that worked for me. Happily I have a large wall space in mind for it I tried with splitting the Signals era ones out but there would be a lot of duplication between the boards, splitting between Yeo / Artillery / Signals even more so. Again no decision yet on frame etc. but pleased to at least get them out of a box and polybags! |

Now that is how to show a comprehensive collection thanks Michael. Beautifully presented and researched IY and Y boards. A question if I may, have you come across examples of I Y Essex or 1 Y Essex shoulder titles as with other yeomanry regiments with clipped shoulder titles to show pride of being the original or first as opposed to Territorial?
All the best, Dean

Thanks all for the comments and feedback, it has been an interesting, at times frustrating but ultimately satisfying project, after too many house moves and having them in boxes it was nice to find a way to enjoy them more.
Chris - there are a few in the book that are not on the boards yet, the hunt goes on! Dean - great to separately hear the positive progress re vaccine :-) As to the S/T conversions, I have seen an example of one cut down to 'I/Y/ESSEX' but it doesn't seem to have been widespread. Have not seen a '1/Y..' yet. M |

1/8/ESSEX
And Dean, at a slight tangent, I've seen a 1/8/ESSEX one too for Essex Regt (though curiously none for the other four TF units).

Thanks Michael.
I think when you collect to just a couple of regiments you pick up all the subtleties like the clipped T shoulder titles. I have had a number across the yeomanry regiments and they are far more common there than with TF infantry IMO. Another milestone reached with supply agreement with Fed Gov and CSL for our vaccine which is welcome. Cheers Dean

Essex ACF
A bit niche now but the badges for EY-affiliated ACF.
Although there were some affiliations from the 1st and 4th Cadet Bns as well as the 6th I have yet to find evidence of specific titles for them. I think probably not though as for those two it was only part of the Bns with the affiliation, unlike the 6th. |
