Default ATS walking out badge

One for the ATS collectors. A nice small 20mm x 23mm Silver badge to the ATS with number 2547 stamped on the back and pin fastening.
Labelled as WW11 Walking Out Badge

It has always been my understanding that these little silver badges were issued early on for wear on civilian attire due to the shortage of uniforms. They are nice little badges though!

I was told by some ladies who served in the ATS that these badges were issued post war to show that they had served in the ATS. The front of the pattern ticket is undated, however the reverse is dated 1949 and 1958.

I'm with Terry on this one. Silver numbered badges were to identify ATS personnel in civvy dress.

I think there are un-numbered brass badges which may have been given out post war to show service.
