Default Does anyone have French shako's or plates?

Out of pure nosiness just wondering if anyone collects them or has one or two? Following on from a conversation with a friends dad who is interested in the Napoleonic period, and has loaned me a few books(so many books, so little time )
I had a quick look on here but couldn't see any.

I was more interested in later National Guard examples, but would love to see anything of that type if anyone has any

Alli

Hi Alli,

If you like, next time i'm up in Paris I will get some Pics from the Musée de l'Armée. In the mean time, if memory serves correct, this is a British Plate in the museum from the Napoleonic Wars (correct me if not), and a French Eagle - proudly un-captured....

They have a stack of uniforms from the Napoleonic times.

Cheers, Tim

Thanks Tony, I have only seen the ones in Paris, but they are exceptional quality, as I am sure that one is. Do you know the story behind it's capture?

Cheers, Tim

I have one French one somewhere.
I think the pattern's called the M60, it's the 2nd Infantry or 2nd Light Infantry (think they wore the same plate).

Pictured below is a gorgeous and incredibly rare first model Bearskin as worn by the French Imperial Guard at Waterloo. It was sold at auction in 2013. This is as good as it gets.

Tim apparently it was a general pattern(not to be confused with General Patton ) in use from 1800-1812
