Many thanks. Does this mean that for some Regiments there are 2 titles, one in English and one in French? I ask as I also have; 1 FD (1 Fd Regt RCA) 6 FD (6 Fd Regt RCA) and RCSA (Royal Canadian School of Artillery). |

For some units there were two titles. The English language ones were superseded by French language ones in 1970. From my reading it only looks like two units had their designation changed from English to French. These were 6 FD to 6 RAC and 62 FD to 62 RAC. 5 RALC was newly formed in 1968, as a permanent force French language regiment.
CFSA superseded RCSA when the Canadian army, navy and airforce were unified. Wyn van der Schee compiled an excellent reference on the Royal Canadian Artillery lineages. This information is from his article.

The standard abbreviation for Field Regiments was X FD.
The 1 FR was a variation that may not have been authorized. Phil |

Obtained this one today, but, it is not on the RCA website as a current independent Battery. Ideas?

Hi Marc, The combat tab is for 5 FD BTY, which is now 5 (British Columbia) Field Regiment. The link gives some of the history.
