RCEME Workshop Produced Cap Badge
Here is a cap badge that we just got in with a lot to a Craftsman serving in 21 Army Group. It has obviously been produced in the field and it is made of brass. This lot (battle dress tunic, some webbing and some badges) almost was dropped off at the Salvation Army because the lady didn't think that anyone wanted this stuff.

I think the Salvation army/Good Will end up getting some great items. I have heard even WWI tunics because people just don't know what they are or what they are worth.

Interesting badge. A lot of the cast badges are attributed to the Italian theatre, but I think that is a lot of CCWD.

Nice badge
An interesting badge. If anyone had the capabilities to make their own badges in the field it would the RCEME.
I posted a thread a long time ago about a RCEME group photo I have, taken in Tilburg, Netherlands in early December 1944. All are RCEME personnel of the 123 LAD. None are wearing an RCEME badge, most are still wearing RCOC cap badges. The unit's Part 1 Orders state that there was a shortage of cap badges in Theatre during the fall of 1944 (and likely into the winter of 1945 by the looks of this photo). It would appear that some enterprising RCEME personnel made their own... http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ighlight=rceme
