It certainly is one of Edwards' pages: the design is quite distinctive.

Chris,
Regimental Badges by Major T J Edwards M.B.E. FRHistS First Published 1951 Reprinted 1953 2nd Edition 1957 3rd Edition 1963 4th Edition 1966 5th Edition 1968 6th Edition 1974 ISBN 0 85314 214 9 (prepared by Arthur L Kipling (of K&K)) 1st Edition reprinted 1972 ISBN 85314 138 X So the AAC page is from the 4th Edition (1966) or 5th Edition (1968). However, the 3rd Edition (1963) has the same information and illustrations on page 161. The 6th Edition (1974) the same information on page 158. The 1st Edition reprint (1972) illustrates only the KC AAC and GPR badges on pages 252-252. I do not own a 2nd Edition! Last edited by grey_green_acorn; 18-09-09 at 08:47 PM. Reason: more info |

Glider Pilot Regt.WM (Pair) (Cat No CB 7519). 1. New Pattern.Patterns (No 16955 and 16956 respectively) of the above-mentioned items have been sealed to govern future manufacture. The new pattern differs from the old (No 14494 and 14495) (Cat No CB 2791 and CB 2792) (See C4746) in that they incorporate the St. Edward Crown. The existing Cat No (CB 3141 and CB 3491) (See C4717 and C6441) will be retained for the new patterns in anodised aluminium.Badges, Cap. Glider Pilot Regt.WM. OP (Cat No CB 2791).Badges, Collar. Glider Pilot Regt.WM. OP (Pair) (Cat No CB 2792). 2. Change of Designation.Obsolescent.Consequent upon ‘1’ the designation of the above-mentioned items (Previously ‘Badges, Cap, Glider Pilot R. WM, and Badges, Collar, Glider Pilot R. WM’ are changed to read as shown and the item is hereby declared obsolescent. = = = Whilst neither of these entries confirm manufacture, they at least show authorisation of WM KC. AA isn't mentioned until the QC version. Off-hand I cannot confirm date of disbandment for the Regt, but I think it was about 1957. AS new badges took some 12 months to produce I doubt the QC version made it past a design stage before disbandment. Stephen. |
