Arnhem,
Do I have your permission to add this image to my album?

I have to assume that his DFM (and other medals) are either still with his family or possibly in the GPR museum. Must try and make a visit to it one day.
Thanks again to 'The Forum' i.e. Mike and members for making this happen.
David
Hi, Desmond was my husbands late grandfather, we have been researching his military background recently for my younger sons WW2 project at school. His medals and personal effects/flight logs are with his daughter, as his widow also passed a few years ago

Default WW11 GPR WS/Staff Sgt Desmond Ryans

If it helps with family research S/Sgt Ryans definitely took part in D Day, Arnhem and Op Varsity whilst serving with the GPR. Reading his citation he must have also taken part in the landing in either Sicily or Italy.
He was a part of 13 Flight D Sqdn when he was wounded during Op Market Garden.

Before service with the GPR he was a member of the KOYLI .

Cheers

If you ever want to let them go to a new home, please do let me know , as my grandfather served together with Des Ryans in 13 Flight, 'D' Squadron GPR, for Operation 'Market'.
