Default Queen's Own Highlanders - Ridges or no ridges??

I've always been led to believe that the Queen's Own Highlanders cap badge had no ridges / lines within the scroll, but am seeing loads with these ridges present.

Was this the case? or did they exist with both? I know the Seaforths badges had the ridges.

Can someone clear this one up for me please?

Ta, Bill

The third example, which is one piece, is an AZAM of Pakistan copy.

The issued ones in a/a did not have the ridges. Are the badges shown all a/a or metal copies?

As Alan says both the Seaforths and The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons & Camerons) two-part a/a badge did not have vertical lines on the scroll.

However, the 3d bright metal three-part badge that replaced the Highlanders flat a/a badge did have lines on the now separate scroll.

Thanks for the replies.

Tim, I actually got the 1 piece badge from the QOHldrs with a few other badges in the early 1980s! Didn't know it was an Azam badge.

Alan, the 2 with the tartan are Wm and the 2 without are AA.

Mark, thanks for that. I have the Highlanders 3d badge with the lines on too.

So did the QOHldrs only issue a staybrite version and the Wm were either copies or PRI type purchases?

Bill

Yes the issued ones were a/a. Metal ones are privately bought or modern fakes.

I suspect they cut a new die for the new piece and matched it to a fake Seaforths stag's head die,
