Default What are these Pips ?

Hi
I have a number of these 'pips' and wonder what they designate. Are some WW1 or are all WWII? some have the coloured background but last 2 do not. The third one is smaller and the corners tilt up.
Any info would be great. Thanks David

You will struggle to ID them specifically to a particular period. The design has not changed materially although sizes have and often relate to the type of clothing or uniform item upon which they are worn.

Default Pips query

The third from the left looks like it is made in brown plastic. If so it can be dated to around 1943 when plastic economy cap badges and rank pips were issued. As Dave said it is quite difficult to positively identify pips by usage and date. I have a few hundred in my album http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...hp?albumid=498
