Default HOME GUARD PATCH
Can any of the Home Guard experts ID this patch and give some history please?
I have only seen one other and that is owned by a forum member.
It is paper backed and is 70mm x 40mm.

Like I tried to say in my first post, should have spell checked it though.

WW2 Home Guard Beever-Eels Armoured Car Crewman's Badge.
Embroidered cotton on oval serge backing badge for use by Home Guard Beever-Eels Armoured Car crew. Intended to be worn on the sleeve in the form of a trade badge they were devised for use by Home Guard units attached to the M.A.P. who operated the Beever-Eels.

Hi Jerry, it is a Leyland Beaver-Eel, but I think they were used by the RAF for airfield defense. Could be they were latter issued to the HG, waste not want not, best wishes Mike

Badge definitely portrays a Beaver-Eel

Beaver-Eel
"The Leyland Beaver-Eel, known officially as the Tender, Armoured, Leyland Type C, was an armoured truck used by the Royal Air Force throughout World War II for airfield defence duties."

The Home Guard also used the Beaverette.

Beaverette

"The Beaverette was extensively used by the Home Guard (United Kingdom), British Army and RAF Regiment for home defence service and training. "

I guess it refers to the Ministry of Aircraft Production.

"The first version of the vehicle was built in 1940 by Standard Motor Company at the instigation of Lord Beaverbrook, then Minister of Aircraft Production (hence the name Beaverette)."

Hi, here is the Beaverette badge, my understanding was it was given for best crew. This one was for No. 1 crew Castley, that could account for it's relative scarcity. Hope this helps, Mike
