Default R.I.C.C. Victorian button. PoW feathers. Boggett

A man at the Aardvark Flea was selling some of his metal detecting finds this morning, all found in the south Shropshire area. I bought this button as it was undoubtedly Victorian. The cypher appears to read R.I.C.C. and the reverse has a Boggett maker's mark.

Can anyone please identify which unit might have worn the button?

I posted this back in 2017 - https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ghlight=button but had no definitve answer. Although not definitive, the (only and therefore) best answer was:

G. & W. Boggett, St. Martins Lane, London dates to the 1830s.
Your button may be a Cricket Club button.

Regards

Chris

There was also BOGGETT & REYNOLDS London 1843 – 1861 , also St.Martins Lane so possibly connected.

Thank you for the link. It may well be a cricket club button but I was hoping that it might have been a rare button worn by a short lived unit such as the Radnorshire Imperial Camel Corps, a unit so small that it only exists in my imagination.

Thank you for your reply. The Boggett company went through several variations during it's existance. Unfortunately my button is too delapidated to read the back marks accurately enough to determine which time period it dates from. Your example is nice and crisp and very readable.
