Post-war BCOF RASC insignia - Japanese?
Hello all,
I’ve just picked up a 1945 dated 1940 pattern RASC battledress with some intriguing and rather spectacular insignia for a lowly driver, which are largely bullion and what I assume is silk. The shoulder titles, in particular, are rather choice. Am I correct in thinking these are theatre-made in origin and if so would these be of Japanese manufacture. |

Hi team
If you notice the X type silk thread over the silk title ,that wasn't for decorative purpose, it served a function to hold/ tack down the delicate background silk thread so as it wouldnt fall apart by natures elements. This was typical of Japanese sew shop embroiderers that you see on larger patchs like USAAF squadron patchs and indeed US Shoulder sleeve insignia. First time I have seen one on a British design, very rare and nice examples of multiple embroidery styles of cloth insignia from Japanese ocupation period. Thanks for showing. Phill |
