Default REME/MSO

A big ask, but does anyone have a pic or even better an example of the REME cap badge modified by the mechanics of the MSO using their collar badge? with the REME badge? I saw one once at Imphal Barracks Osnabruck in the 70's, and have been on the lookout for one since, but to no avail. Any info gratefully received and as usual thanks in advance.

Ken. I am green with envy! I do like this method of construction placing the MSO emblem under the horses tail and hoof, it does look better than Tim's example in post 3. Just goes to show how individuals can take more or less care when altering something. Do you know if these badges were ever 'approved' either by the RCT or by individual unit CO's, or were they just the whim of the wearer? Could you show a pic of the back please, and describe how the attachment has been made. In Tim's example it just looks as if it has been stuck on. Many thanks, and if you ever decide . . . .

My example of the REME MSO cap badge was obtained in 1978 from an MSO vehicle mechanic in the workshops of the MCTG (Mobile Civilian Transport Group) based at Trenchard Barracks, Celle. The main peacetime role of the MCTG was to run a fleet of Bedford buses for school transport and ancient AEC Militant 10 Tonne trucks to deliver freight to locations in Northern Germany. The MCTG workshop was the responsibility of a REME WO1 ASM and all the other personnel were MSO mostly displaced from the former Yugoslavia.

I understand that these REME cap badges were locally ‘modified’ often by their MSO wearer so there are variations in finish.
